Saturday, July 12 from 5-9 is a romance centered event hosted by Read and Rooted Book Store. Come to the Adams Pointe Conference Center in Blue Springs, MO for this fantastic event that includes delicious treats with wonderful new reads.

New Release
Harvey's Girl
I am so happy to announce that one of my short stories in featured in the new Woodneath Press anthology Heart of America: Kansas City-Inspired Short Stories. The story, entitled "Harvey's Girl" is set at Union Station in the original Fred Harvey's restaurant and at the Liberty Memorial across the park.
The sweet little story features Dorothy Jane Fitzgerald and Harvey Taft and is set in the mid 1920s. I got the inspiration for the story after my annual visit to the World War I Museum that left me wondering what a soldier from the war would think of this place. I wanted to write a warm little romance, that gives the two characters their happily ever after, so I picked the single most romantic spot in all of Kansas City to start the story off: Union Station.
Trains in the glory days of traveling the rails always seem romantic. I have probably watched far too many movies of a woman leaning out the window, while a man chase after them with a great puff of smoke swirling around his legs as he picks up speed and manages that last perfect goodbye.
The story of Fred Harvey's restaurant and the Harvey's girls gave me a clever title and a place to have Dottie working. Elmore is based on the town of Viola, Kansas where my grandparents were raised, so as many of the stories from that time, there is a little nod to them.
I am so very excited for this story to be published in the Woodneath Press Anthology as the Story Center at Woodneath Library is a special home away from home for me. This April 22nd, the book releases, so be sure to pick up a copy and read the captivating tale of Dottie and Harvey.
